What are Botox and Juvéderm fillers?

Botox and Juvéderm fillers are cosmetic injectables that reduce signs of aging so you can look and feel years younger.

Botox

Botox is an injectable made of botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin that blocks nerve impulses to facial muscles and causes them to relax. It reduces lines caused by smiling, frowning, and squinting, including:

  • Crow’s-feet lines
  • Forehead creases
  • Frown lines
  • Lines near the mouth
  • A cobblestoned chin

Botox and other neurotoxin treatments are FDA-approved and are some of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the United States.

Fillers

FDA-approved Juvéderm injectable fillers are also known as wrinkle fillers. Examples of Juvéderm products include Juvéderm® XC, Voluma®, Volbella®, and Vollure™. These fillers enhance antiaging by:

Before receiving Botox or Juvéderm injections, you’ll meet with a medical provider at Genesis Cosmetic Laser Center for a thorough consultation to determine which antiaging procedure, or combination of techniques, best matches your needs.

After filler injections, you’ll notice results immediately, but visible results from Botox may take 3-7 days to appear.

After Botox or Juvéderm injections, you may notice the following temporary symptoms:

  • Swelling at the injection site
  • Redness
  • Mild bruising

There’s no downtime after cosmetic injections, so you can resume normal daily activities right away. Your provider may ask you to avoid strenuous activities until the next day.

The length of time your results last varies, as everybody is different. Botox might last 3-6 months and fillers can last 6-18 months or longer, depending on the type of product used.
