The laser creates a beam of high-intensity light that penetrates deeply into skin tissue, where it delivers a controlled amount of targeted therapeutic heat. Candela’s patented Dynamic Cooling Device™ technology protects the upper layers of your skin with a cooling burst of cryogen. Together, the long-pulse laser and DCD cooling offer optimal treatment with minimal side effects.
Clients scheduled for hair removal should avoid tweezing, waxing, or electrolysis for six weeks prior to treatment, however you may shave the area. If you have a history of herpes simplex virus and are scheduled for laser treatment, prophylactic antiviral therapy may be prescribed. Also your skin should be clean shaven, and the area thoroughly cleansed and dried, removing any makeup, creams, oils, topical anesthetics or self-tanning products before laser treatment.
Do not actively tan the intended treatment area by sun exposure or self-tanning products of any kind for 14 days prior to each treatment. For hair removal of the face, discontinue use of Accutane® for six months, Retin-A® for two weeks and glycolic acid and alpha-hydroxy acid products for a week before your treatment. You cannot be treated while you have infections or sores in the area.
Most people enjoy permanent hair reduction, meaning that about 90% of hair can be eliminated. The heat and light destroy the follicle so it can no longer grow. However, hormone changes and different medicines can cause other hair follicles that were previously dormant to start new growth, as with any permanent hair removal system, and could require touch ups down the road.
A cool compress or gel pack may be applied for comfort following your treatment. Any redness or swelling should resolve within a few hours. After treatment the area should be protected from sun exposure by applying sunscreen (SPF 30 or above). In the first few days after treatment do not scrub or rinse the treated area with abrasive skin cleansers.
Laser Hair Removal for Men
Laser hair removal provides excellent and permanent relief from unsightly hair growth. The treatments are easy and painless. You might think of laser hair removal for women. The truth is that many men benefit from these treatments, as well.
For men who have thick body hair, are sensitive to shaving, and those who are athletes, laser hair removal can simplify the grooming process. A lot of men routinely undergo waxing. Opting instead for laser hair removal saves money in the long run and is a less painful process.
The Most Popular Hair Removal Areas for Men
Here are some of the most popular areas men choose to treat with laser hair removal:
- Neck and Face. Even if you prefer to grow facial hair, treating your neck and some areas of your face can be beneficial to thin out the hair and eliminate ingrown hairs. Some men are especially susceptible to skin irritation on the neck from shaving. Laser hair treatments solve this issue.
- Back. The back is one of the most popular areas to have laser hair removal procedures done. It’s inconvenient (or near impossible) to shave this area without help. Laser hair treatments remove the unsightly hair and are a permanent option, eliminating the need for regular, painful waxing.
- Chest. Some men choose to have all of their chest hair removed and others choose to thin it out for aesthetic purposes.
- Armpit Area. Hair can trap body odor. Having armpit hair removed makes hygiene more convenient in this area.
- Arms and Legs. Arms and legs are less common areas to have treated. It is popular among athletes, especially swimmers, cyclists, and body builders who often remove hair for competitions.

How Much Does Laser Hair Removal Cost
Our prices vary based on the area treated, please call for pricing for a specific area. The laser can only target and destroy the hair follicle while it is in the anagen phase of growth (still growing), and only about 10% – 30% of your hair is in this stage at any given time.
While you can see results after the first treatment, it usually takes 6-10 treatments to get the results you want. Because of this, treatments need to be performed every 4-12 weeks (depending on the area) in order to catch all of the hairs when they are in this growth stage.
